Chelva

The village of Chelva in the Serranía, Valencia.

My wife Helma and I have lived in Chelva since 2008. A characteristic Spanish village located in the hills, 70 kilometers landward from the province capital Valencia. The village has about 1500 inhabitants.

The river Chelva, the olive orchards and the roman aqueduct.

Despite its small size, everything is available. Several supermarkets, a health center and four bakeries, one of which still bakes bread in a wood oven. There are a small number of restaurants who serve simple, good meals. In the center is the “palacio” the Viscount Palace. A historic building from the 11th century, part of which is accessible to the public. It is called The Fundation Maria Antonia Clavel and has a cultural destination.

Chelva is known, for its beautiful natural environment, its archaeological sites, for its many short and long hiking trails. Chelva has been chosen, in second position, as one of the 7 Rural Wonders of Spain 2018.

There is a twice-daily bus service to Valencia.
