What to bring?
For the students of the summer course 2026: Here is the list of materials. But do feel free to bring the materials that you normally use!
Photographs
Experience has shown us that most people prefer to use their own. The photographs must satisfy a number of requirements: it is advisable to use simple lighting. For example, indoors, the subject should be positioned diagonally opposite to a window. Using artificial light it is important that the tone of the photo is not too yellow or too purple and not too pale. Preferably no “flash snaps”. See here some tips.
The prints must have the format in which it is going to be painted, at least A4 size. Very important: the print must be of good quality: GLOSSY PAPER.
If the size is a problem, then it is a good idea to get a black and white enlargement from the copy- shop. In the course we will use the tracing method to transfer the drawing on the canvas. Please look carefully at the first part of this video.
